Google Business Profile: add your website, a booking link, and take bookings by text

Point your Google listing at your DeskOwl booking page and number, so people who find you on Google can book without reaching a phone that rings out.

Most new clients find a salon on Google before they find its website. Your Google Business Profile is the panel that shows on Google Search and Maps, with your hours, photos, reviews, and buttons to call or visit. This guide adds two things to it: a website and a booking link, so people can book straight from Google, and your DeskOwl number, so the calls and texts that listing produces are actually answered.

Before you start

  • You manage your own Google Business Profile. If you have not claimed it yet, search your salon's name on Google while signed in and follow the prompt to claim and verify it.
  • Your DeskOwl booking link, or your DeskOwl website address if you have the website add-on. Both are in your DeskOwl dashboard.
  • Your DeskOwl phone number: the number you forward your calls to.

Good to know. You edit your profile straight from Google. Search your salon's name on Google, or open it in Google Maps, while signed in as the owner, and use the Edit profile button. Everything below lives in that same Edit profile panel.

Add your website

This is the link people tap to learn more or book. If you have the DeskOwl website add-on, use your DeskOwl website address. If not, use your DeskOwl booking link, which opens your services and available times directly.

  1. 1Open Edit profile, then the Contact tab.
  2. 2Find Website, and paste your DeskOwl website address or booking link.
  3. 3Save. It can take a little while for Google to show the change.

Add a booking link so people book from Google

A booking link puts a Book button on your profile, so someone can go from finding you to holding a time without leaving Google. Use the same DeskOwl booking link here.

  1. 1In Edit profile, find the Bookings section, or the prompt to add a booking link.
  2. 2Paste your DeskOwl booking link.
  3. 3Save. A Book button appears on your profile once Google reviews it.
Adding a DeskOwl booking link to the profile

Good to know. If your profile does not offer a Bookings section, your business category may not support one. The website link above still gives people a clear path to book.

Take bookings by text

People increasingly want to text a business rather than call it. On your profile, the phone number is both the number they call and the number they text. Set it to your DeskOwl number, and DeskOwl answers both: it takes the call, or replies to the text, and books the appointment either way.

  1. 1Open Edit profile, then the Contact tab.
  2. 2Find Phone, and set the main number to your DeskOwl number.
  3. 3Save.
Setting the DeskOwl number as the profile's phone number

Good to know. Google removed its own in-profile chat feature in 2024, so there is no separate message button to switch on. A text simply goes to the phone number on your profile, which is why setting that to your DeskOwl number is what lets clients book by text.

Check it worked

Search your salon's name on Google on your phone. You should see your website and a Book button, and the call and text options should use your DeskOwl number. Send a test text to that number and make sure DeskOwl replies. Changes can take a little time to show, so if something is missing, give it a few hours and look again.
